Is this a camera or a phone? The answer is, of course, both, although it certainly looks more like the former. Samsung’s new 8 megapixel Memoir is to be carried by T-Mobile, and is the touch screen successor to the Samsung Behold, itself a passable 5MP shooter.
There’s nothing official about Samsung memoir at the moment, but, according to TmoNews, this is what the handset look. There’s a T-Mo logo on the front and a myFaves logo on the back panel above the massive camera optics.
In fact, apart from its sleek good looks and three million extra pixels, the T929 (Memoir) isn’t much different from the T919 (Behold). It uses the same Touch Wiz interface and also has a Xenon flash (not really a flash — more of a flashlight), a 16x digital zoom (like all digital zooms, best avoided) and an autofocus lens. The camera/phone also comes with a rather splendid piece of marketing bunk.
The Samsung Memoir has an 8.0-megapixel camera has a Xenon flash, 16x digital zoom and five shooting modes. It features a large touch-screen with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface. Virtual QWERTY keypad texts multimedia messages chat and email, while built-in Assisted GPS navigation offers turn-by-turn directions.
For handsfree use, the Memoir has stereo Bluetooth technology, speakerphone and voice-activated dialing. An integrated music and video player provides on-the-road entertainment.
Samsung’s new photo widget lets users to post photos directly to favorite online photo sharing sites such as flickr, Kodak Gallery, Photobucket and Snapfish.
The Samsung Memoir phone comes with the following features: a 3-inch TFT touchscreen display with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels, a TouchWiz user interface, accelerometer, integrated assisted GPS, stereo Bluetooth, HTML browser and a microSD card of 1GB capacity storage that is included in the package.
Measuring 105.9 x 53.6 x 14 millimeters and weighing no more than 125 grams, the phone provides up to 5.5 hours of talk time and up to 12.5 days of stand-by time.
